About Savanna Safari at the Safari Park 2013

Embark on a safari through the savannas of Africa as you venture around our large African field habitats to see giraffe, oryx, rhinos, and more. Safari stops will include an opportunity to offer treats to the endangered Somali wild ass and a behind-the-scenes look at the most famous savanna predator’s residence--Lion Camp--where you’ll learn about our pride and see how the kings and queens of the savanna relax when the guests aren’t looking. You’ll also venture behind-the-scenes at our African elephant exhibit to see how our keepers care for these massive mammals.

  • Guided tour around the Africa Tram Tour Loop
  • Behind-the-scenes visit to Elephants (no guarantee of seeing elephants "up close" or otherwise)
  • Behind-the-scenes visit to Lion Camp (no guarantee of seeing lions "up close" or otherwise)
  • Visit to Somali wild ass (feeding opportunity)

Admission

  • Admission is NOT included in the price of the Savanna Safari and is required. Please ensure each guest has a valid Admission ticket or Membership.


Age Restrictions

  • All ages welcome
  • Designed for children ages 3-7
  • Ages 2 and under free when riding on the lap of a paid adult
  • 17 and younger must be accompanied by a paid Adult


Capacity

  • Join-in Tour
  • Minimum: 2 (one Adult and one Child)
  • Maximum: 10


Change / Cancel Policy

  • Changes or cancellations are not permitted.


Check In

  • 15 minutes prior to scheduled time
  • Location: Lockers near the front entrance
  • NOTE: Please allow suffient time for travel to the Safari Park, parking, and to find Check In location inside park. Allow additional time for busy peak and holiday periods.


Frequency

  • 2 Hours
  • Saturdays and Sundays


Miscellaneous

  • Late guests will be admitted only up to 5 minutes past advertised tour time
  • ADA: Please call Reservation Sales at 619-718-3000 to complete reservation.
  • No service animals.

Parking

  • A nominal parking fee is paid upon arrival.

  • No food or drink except for water
    • Medical exceptions can be made
  • No smoking
  • No restroom break
  • No camera supplies will be provided
  • Strollers cannot be taken on tour
  • May be cancelled due to safety reasons
